My 26th Birthday

Well, my birthday started with my first ever Jury Duty. Yes, that is right, this past Friday was the first time ever I have actually HAD to go to Jury Duty. It was a waste of about 3 hours of my time, I did not get selected, luckily. And luckily enough a friend from highschool found me and we chatted the whole time we were waiting. Score! Anyways, that afternoon Chris and I went to Red Robbin for lunch and went to several different stores clearance shopping. I got some very cute things for very cheap! We are so frugal! Hehehe. I got a pair of jeans for $15 and a black pair of slacks for $20 at the Gap, Chris got a pair of jeans for $10 at Aeropostale, I got a dress from Old Navy for $5 and a tank for $3. Craziness! Good deals are great though!

Then the comes the family birthday dinner. Here are a few photos from that event and of course the blessed birthday song to me :) Hehehe

What is Levi doing? I dunno. I guess he is lost without all his girls.

Atlee (mini Laci) and I

And then there is the girl with the camera, who takes pictures of herself. Oh, RIGHT! That is my sis. Hehehe

And I finally got to see the movie I had been wanting to see all weekend on Sunday evening. Definitely, Maybe. It was cute and funny and I really enjoyed it.

Yesterday, Monday, Chris developed his second set of kidney stones and I had to take him to the doctor (not the emergency room this time thank goodness!). We just went for the CT scan this afternoon and they determined that he had one in each kidney. The one that had given him pain already that was in the left kidney is about to pass and the one that is in the right kidney has yet to cause him trouble, so they told him to get ready to feel some pain on that one because it is bigger than the one that was in his left. Please be in prayer for Chris as he goes through all this pain. Luckily the doctor prescribed some pain pills for him.

Thanks for the prayers as always and I hope everyone's week has got off to a great start!

Dough crack?

I thought this was too funny.

Last night I went over to Connie & Levi's to hang out with Connie and the girls. Connie wanted to have a little birthday dinner for me, because she and the girls are missing my family birthday dinner on Friday. Which I told her was fine with me, but she insisted on having me over to celebrate anyways...I love her so much :)

Well, Connie had purchase some pre-flattened sugar cookie dough for us girls to cut out heart-shaped sugar cookies to bake and enjoy decorating together. Well, it was going as good as it can go I guess with a 2 and a half year old who sneezed across the table and some of her sneeze goo hit me in the face all the while she is rolling a ball of dough in sprinkles in a little bowl. That was great...Connie goes, OK mark THAT cookie. It was not needed though, b/c Jules asked if she could eat the ball of dough and I gladly said, YES! We had to get rid of the bowl she was using though, because there was a little bit of sneeze goo in there too.

But I digress, Mia, Jules and I were gladly cutting hearts out of the dough and I was supposed to be supervising to make sure that we got as many hearts as we could out of our wonderful dough, but I think I am a little lacking in the area of cookie cutting supervision, b/c we ended up with a lot of extra dough. Anyways, Connie comes to join us and we are all sitting around cutting out shapes and giggling. Mia was a cookie-cutting pro by this time and we were neither one supervising her...when all the sudden she drops a cookie on the cookie sheet that is missing one of the heart humps (I don't know how else to describe what I mean). I am feeling a little goofy so I say Mia, what happened to that cookie, it looks like you took a bite out of it. She replies with: I had to fix it because it had a dough crack. To this Connie and I are now rolling with laughter and we are like WHAT is a dough crack? She explains: You know when the dough is cracked and the cookie won't stay together? So I guess because of the dough crack she had to eat a heart hump.

Hehehe. These terms I am using are cracking me up. Well, I don't know if this is one of those things where you had to be there for this to be funny, but I thought I would share it anyways.

Dance War: Bruno vs. Carrie Ann

Has anyone seen this show? If so, are you thinking the same thing I am...WHY is this show called Dance War??

This show is more of a broadway musical of sorts. All team members are required to sing AND dance. It's like american idol combined with dancing with the stars, but there are no "stars" persay. What is up with this? If this show is in fact there because of dancing then why are these poor people required to take voice instruction and sing while they dance?

Oh and incase you are totally out of the loop, Bruno and Carrie Ann are 2 of the judges on Dancing with the Stars.

This show just completely caught me off guard when I was watching it...I was expecting some awesome dancing skills being shown on screen, but what was delivered was good and sometimes mediocre dancing with SINGING. I was just weirded out. With a name like Dance War, wouldn't you expect to see some amazing dance skills??

Maybe it's just me.

Side Note and TOTALLY off the subject:

To those who care...my dog, aka Rocket Dog, zipped out of the front door last night and ran down 4 houses. All the while I am chasing the stinkin' brat in my pajama's, because I had just got out of the shower. Chris yells for me to just come back and leave him out there, so I proceed back to the house and then Chris takes off in a playful run towards the front door and here comes my Rocket Dog, speeding past me at the speed of light and into the front door of my house. Stupid Dog. He was greeted inside by several swats on his rear from Chris. I am so tired of him running. And then this morning (it was wet outside b/c it rained last night) he comes in and runs around the living room tracking mud in all the while and then bolts for the front door...grr. Well needless to say I caught him in the entry way b/c the front door was NOT open this time and lectured him and put him in his crate without feeding him his breakfast. Because of the wonderful stunt of running around the living room and me having to chase him, I no longer had time to mess with him before work.

No worries to those dog lovers out there...Chris fed him when he got up.

Stinkin' Dog...he needs to live outside for good.

Happy Birthday LACI!!

Today is Laci's actual birthday, but our family celebrated last night. Here are a couple of videoes of the event.

Happy Birthday is by far the worst possible song to sing on key, as you can tell from the above video. When Connie was first brought into our family she told us we were horrible at it, so we definitely keep at that standard of singing.

Next is something that not all families do, mine is a little on the strange side, so here are my wonderful siblings participating in a competition. Notice that I did not participate...does this mean I am the only normal one of the three? That is open for interpretation.

Ben & Basketball, Sat Feb 2

Last Saturday, Chris and I drove to Plano to see Ben play basketball. It was so much fun watching all the 5 & 6 year olds making their best efforts at playing the game. Ben was our own little star, making several baskets and I was lucky enough to catch one on video. His 2nd cousin Aidan is also on the team and provided us with a lot of entertainment as well. Chris decided that he had to bring his basketball to get our "all stars" to sign it. Here are some pictures of that:

Ben was a little shy at first about signing the ball, but Aiden had no problem with it, then a team-mate of theirs also had to sign it and then of course, Aiden's little sister Zoey did too. Here is a picture of Chris with our awesome basketball players:

We had such a great time hanging out with Joe, Misti, Ben, and Taylor all day. Here is a video of Taylor that I thought was just way too cute. She is really into talking a LOT now, so it is funny to see what all she has to say!

The Day of Wind...Tuesday Jan 29

This is what happened at our home the day of wind...or at least that is what I am calling Tuesday, January 29, 2008. Our pool liner, which we were already planning to replace because of holes, was ripped out of our pool and into tiny little shreds of pieces all over our yard. We spent the entire following Friday afternoon picking up all the tiny pieces and ripping the rest of the liner out.
Much to our dismay we found several spots on the interior of the pool that are rusting due to the holes that were in the liner. Chris and I are trying to decide what we want to do about all of this. Expenses, expenses...

The Flu

Yeah that is correct, I have the flu.

It all started mild and sneaky like on Saturday afternoon with a little cough. I enjoyed my Saturday which was full of good food and family time with Joe, Misti, Ben and Taylor.

But those memories are hard to sustain when waking up early Sunday morning with a fever and feeling completely awful. Sunday, the day of the superbowl, the day I was supposed to attend a baby shower and a super bowl party. Both of which I was looking forward to... But do I attend either? NO, because I am running a fever of 103.2 and barely feel like lifting my head off of the pillow.

I call in sick to work for Monday late Sunday evening and head to the doctor Monday morning. I wait for an hour to get in to a room, even though I had an appointment, it's ok...I think half of Ft. Worth was there, b/c there wasn't even an empty seat in the waiting room.

When I get in to see the doctor I explain my symptoms: fever, full body aches, cough, sore throat, runny nose, etc. Classic flu. Yep, milady that is what you have. So I get out of there and get into the car with Chris. My oh so sweet husband who has been waiting on me hand and foot b/c he can tell there is something seriously wrong with me, has taken a long lunch break to take me to the doctor. He then drops me back off at home and takes my meds to the pharmacy.

He doesn't return until after 5:00 pm with my flu meds and by this time I am quite possibly feeling worse than before because my throat is hurting 10 times worse and I can barely talk. People keep calling to check on me which is loving and sweet and all but when it is painful to talk it is not all that enjoyable. Finally I get the flu medicine in me and think NOW I will start to feel better.

But, wait, what is this...I am feeling really nauseous. I check the labels of the drugs I just consumed. And YES, lo and behold the one that you take to get rid of the flu can cause nausea and vomiting for 1-2 days as your body adjusts to the medication. GREAT!! Just what I wanted on top of everything. I tell Chris to go get me a big tupperware bowl and he proceeds to ask where they are and what approximate size I would like, I say, Honey I don't care just get me one. Then my phone starts to ring again and I move as quickly as possible to the toilet b/c the bowl is just not coming fast enough. So I spend the next 5 or so minutes over the porcelain throne and return to my sick haven otherwise known as our couch.

Tuesday...well Tuesday I think I am feeling better and am almost positive that I will be able to go to work on Wed, but unfortunately my day is filled with dizziness and extreme tiredness. But wait...I feel a fever blister coming on...oh great. And then another, and yet another. By Tuesday night I had 4 clusters of fever blisters taking over my entire lower lip, the right corner of my mouth, and below the left corner of my mouth on my chin. Lovely. Now, not only do I feel like poo, but I look horrible as well.

Wednesday. I wake up to find yet another fever blister growing on my chin, so I call the doctor and make yet another appt this week. This time I get in much more quickly but I am an emotional wreck because not only do I still not feel well, the lower half of my face looks like a mutant. I feel so UGLY! Anyways, an hour later and 2 more meds to add to my current load later I am back at home and feeling exhausted again. Chris keeps reassuring me that I do not look ugly, but all it takes is one look in the mirror to quickly change my mind of his loving reassurance.

Not that great of a post I know, but for those of you who didn't know what is going on, now you do. I am going to go back to my couch now to rest some more. Please pray that I get to feeling better soon, that these mutant-like fever blisters disappear, and that Chris stays healthy. I don't wish this on anyone else, especially my husband who has been taking such good care of me.

I will post pics from Saturday and last Tuesday later, I wanted to post on them earlier but as you can tell now I haven't felt much like it. Thanks for the prayers.
